I am the director of the MiNT Laboratory. I currently work as an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at the University of South Florida. Before that, I was a Dean's Diversity Postdoctoral Fellow in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. When I am not writing papers, I love to spend time with my family and play with my big camera.
I graduated from the University of Delaware with a Ph.D. in Education in 2022. I hold a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a bachelor’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in China. Prior to pursuing my academic career, I worked as an elementary school Chinese immersion teacher in Delaware.
I am always happy to discuss science and collaborate with people. Feel free to contact me!

Hello, my name is Pengju Guan, a doctoral student from the program of Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration on Literacy Studies at the University of South Florida. I obtained my bachelor and master degree in China and have been working as an English language teacher in Henan University of China.
My research interests include language teacher education, teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL), and translanguaging in the multilingual and multicultural context. I explore how New Literacy Studies can empower language teachers and learners and innovate the pedagogy in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms.
Currently, I am conducting research on language learners’ emotions in the technology-mediated learning environment and how teachers make use of technology-mediated language learning to support language learners’ language and literacy development.

I am an international student from Ecuador in my junior year at the University of South Florida. I earned an AA in computer science from Hillsborough Community College. I am fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, learning languages is one of my biggest interests.
Last summer, I volunteered in a small village in Brazil, teaching English to children. This experience not only contributed to my personal growth but also sparked my interest in language learning and its intersection with technology.
I find the research process fascinating. I’m excited to apply my skills in data analysis and programming to contribute meaningfully to the project. I hope to build a career in data science in the future.
